The large-scale drawing was created using a range of graphite pencils on cartridge paper and, measuring a height of 84cm and a width of 59cm. The contemporary portrait features a close-up image of a middle-aged positioned in the centre of the frame. He is observing something in the distance causing his eyes to look to the left of the frame. Tyler, The Creator is wearing a bucket hat that has a Lacoste logo, which allows the viewers to assume that the man is modelling for his brand (collaboration). Embedded in the fluffy scarf is the text, ‘I was taught to act my shoe size, never my age’. The text is shaded in dark tones with an 8B pencil to create a contrast of the soft white scarf and stand out to the viewer.
The title of the artwork ‘The Path to Self Control’ contributes to the piece as the message embedded in the scarf is quirky and shows how Tyler Gregory Okonma likes to embrace his inner child. This artwork will speak to one’s pathway to maturity and how long it takes for this process to occur, whether it is when they are youthful or elderly.

OCEANIC HUE WAX SEAL

This piece was inspired by the wax seal object bestowed upon me following the passing of my grandfather, a cherished gift from my grandmother. Painted and drawn with watercolors on an A3 scale page, it serves as a poignant muse for my artistic exploration. Through my upcoming series, "Burgundy Bliss," I delve deeper into the essence of this object, seeking to unravel its layers of significance and emotional resonance.
